Acoustic leak detection performs best on pressurised supply pipework, the mains cold feed to a basin or shower, for example, because that pressure drives water through the leak point continuously, producing a consistent sound. Gravity-fed waste pipes running at low pressure are harder to detect acoustically, and that's where tracer gas or dye testing steps in as an alternative method.

- Dave
- None at all. The contact sensor rests gently on the tile surface, there's no drilling, no cutting, no pressure applied. The whole acoustic survey is entirely non-invasive.
