It happens regularly. A property might have a failed drain joint that's been letting groundwater in, and separately a small supply pipe leak under the slab. Dave
We tend to run the acoustic survey first. Acoustic leak detection relies on listening for the pressure signature of escaping water, and that's easier to do before any equipment disturbance on site. Once we've traced the supply pipe leak and marked it up, the drainage engineer can get the CCTV camera into the drain runs without compromising the acoustic data.
George

Dave
The camera feeds live footage back to a screen so the engineer can see the condition of the pipe wall, the joints, any deformation or cracking. Root ingress shows up clearly, tree roots find their way through hairline joint failures and then spread inside the pipe. Displaced joints, where two sections have moved apart, are a very common find on older clay drainage systems.
George
And all of that gets documented, I assume? The homeowner walks away with a report covering both?
Dave
They do. ADI produces a written report with the acoustic findings, the leak location marked on a site plan, and a separate drainage survey report with CCTV footage and a condition assessment of each drain run.
